Overcoming the toughest resistance with full penetrating power, whether against concrete or stone: hammer drills and demolition hammers literally have a huge impact. Sealing solutions and rubber molded parts from Freudenberg Sealing Technologies are meanwhile essential to them. They robustly and reliably guarantee the machine’s power output and a long lifetime of drilling, chiseling, demolishing
We recently added the GYLON EPIX™ - The Next Generation in PTFE Gasketing webinar to our website. The webinar discusses Garlock's revolutionary new gasketing material, with its patented hexagonal surface, which concentrates gasket stress, providing improved compressibility and bolt load retention, improving sealability and blowout resistance.
Below is the third and final section of the webinar, which provides application guidance for GYLON EPIX™, calling out where it makes most sense to utilize this revolutionary new material.

At Gallagher Fluid Seals, we know how much time and effort goes into specifying the right sealing product for your specific application. We hope that our blogs, design guides, and white papers are useful resources you can use to guide you along this process. In that vain, we have recently started to build-out our YouTube Channel.
Here, you can find many of the videos we've featured in our blogs and on our website, as well as videos from our trusted sealing suppliers, such as Parker, Garlock, GORE, Freudenberg
Gallagher recently released our High Performance Elastomer Seals for the Instrumentation Industry White Paper. This was written by Russ Schnell, an Elastomer Consultant contracted by Gallagher Fluid Seals, and a former Senior Application Engineer with the Kalrez® perfluoroelastomer parts business at DuPont. This white paper is now available for download on our Resources page.
Below is the third and final section of the white paper, which will discuss the importance of proper seal and groove design.
Proper seal design is a necessity for elastomer seals to perform reliably over the long term. Many of the instrument applications mentioned above use o-ring seals. The suggested compression for an elastomer o-ring seal to perform properly is typically a minimum of 16%, and a maximum of 30%. However, this range must also take into account the thermal expansion of an elastomer at elevated temperatures as well as any swell due to chemical exposure. Many of the elastomer seals used in instruments are small o-rings, which can create design issues. This is especially true for perfluoroelastomer parts which have a relatively high coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE). Fluoroelastomers have a lower CTE, making seal design easier at elevated temperatures.
Industrial applications can be found in many industries and range from hydraulic cylinders to heavy duty equipment. Many industrial applications are in harsh environments including dirt and mud, chemicals, a range of temperatures, and hard to reach locations, making maintenance a challenge. Equipment down time for maintenance and repairs can be detrimental to the industry.
CIP Composites offers solutions for rigorous industrial applications by extending wear life while reducing or eliminating external lubricants and undesired maintenance. As a general guide, CIP Composite bushing materials can replace your current bronze or nylon based wear and bearing materials. Sold in tubes or sheets for easy machining onsite, or custom manufactured with short lead times.
Hydraulic cylinders are the ideal choice for a host of mobile and industrial applications where power and reliability, along with low operating costs are required. Hydraulic (and even pneumatic and electrical actuator) cylinders are handling more demanding applications than in previous years, such as the use of smaller cylinders which force higher and higher operating pressures. Manufacturers and servicers alike depend on quality components to ensure that their finished product meet or exceeds the customer requirements including long service life, affordability, and availability.

Elastomer seals from Parker Prädifa meet the most exacting demands in a wide range of applications. Aside from the appropriate seal designs, the material properties of the seal compounds are crucial to ensuring that seals deliver the desired performance.
A key criterion for the storage period of elastomers is the time at which the product was vulcanized. Parker indicates the date of manufacture on the packaging bags: “1Qxx” stands for parts produced in the first quarter of the year 20xx. The recommended maximum storage period depends on the type of elastomer.
Are you having trouble finding the time to get a training session up and running? Need an insightful presenter to engage your employees? Contact your Gallagher Fluid Seals Account Manager, or fill out our Lunch-and-Learn online form to discuss if a Lunch-and-Learn makes sense for your organization.
A lunch-and-learn program is a training or presentation session facilitated and provided by Gallagher Fluid Seals and one of our key vendors. They usually last approximately 30-45 minutes (i.e. an employee's lunch hour). It's usually held in an employee cafeteria, auditorium, or conference room. This concept provides easy access to participants, and is typically less formal than most standard training sessions. As an incentive to your company and the training participants, Gallagher Fluid Seals will provide lunch!
Lunch-and-Learn programs are an easy way to develop and motivate employees, while creating an environment of communication, collaboration, and learning.

The dirt, abrasion and loads associated with earthmoving equipment create notoriously harsh operating conditions for moving parts. Despite these conditions – more often than not combining dirt and water – Vesconite performs well, and is the ideal material for bushings operating under slow speeds or oscillating movements under high load. With its lubrication-free qualities, Vesconite can save machine operators considerable lubrication downtime, not to mention reduced wear on costly counter moving parts.
