Gallagher Fluid Seals Announces e-Commerce Store

Better and faster access to the seals you need to keep your production running.

King of Prussia, PA. October 29, 2019 /News and Updates/ — Gallagher Fluid Seals (GFS) is excited to announce the launch of its e-commerce store, providing a brand new experience to shop for seals.

“It’s been a complete team effort,” says Chris Gallagher, CEO. “Our team has worked diligently over the past several months to prepare and deliver a state-of-the art e-commerce store for both new and returning customers.”

As the world’s economy has evolved to an online platform, GFS felt seal buying should be easier. Gone are the days of calling in and ordering a replacement seal – or sending an RFQ. This new online experience allows greater and faster access to the seals you need to keep your facility up-and-running.

“Maximizing the ease-of-purchase and visibility of fluid sealing products is imperative to the future of seal buying, and that’s why we are well-positioned to help our customers for years to come,” says Chris.

To start, Gallagher’s e-commerce store will focus on six main product categories:

  1. O-Rings
  2. Gaskets
  3. Sheet Material
  4. Expanded PTFE
  5. Compression Packing
  6. Mechanical Seals

In the coming months, the full product array will be added to shop.gallagherseals.com, providing even more fluid sealing options. Specialty products such as expansion joints, bearings & bushings, rotary seals, and more will be added.

We’re excited about this new chapter in Gallagher Fluid Seals’ history, and we hope you will join us in this journey to make your seal shopping experience easier and more transparent.

About Gallagher Fluid Seals, Inc.

For 60+ years, Gallagher Fluid Seals has taken pride in being the industry leader for all things seals. Not only was Gallagher the first North American seal distributor to achieve ISO 9001 certification, but year-after-year, GFS takes steps to maintain its status as the leading distributor for fluid sealing products: In January 2019, Gallagher made an additional company acquisition – this time acquiring Quality Seals out of Bethel, CT. This strategic acquisition has been great for customers. It has helped to bolster capabilities and expand product lines while simultaneously opening a custom engineering channel to Quality Seals’ existing customers.

Gallagher Case Study: Design and Fabrication of Custom Molded Gasket

Gallagher Fluid Seals helps meters & instruments manufacturer through the design and fabrication of a custom-molded gasket with an engineered profile.

The Problempicture of micro corrector

Our client’s micro corrector was experiencing water intrusion past the gasket, caused by improper seal material and configuration.

The Approach

Gallagher Applications Engineer Benjamin Mell worked closely with our client to identify & address the issue and suggested sending a sample of the instrument to GFS headquarters. Our engineering team received the hardware and investigated the root cause of the seal failure.

GFS engineers observed that our client’s closed-cell foam gasket had taken a severe compression set. This was limiting the life & effectiveness of the foam seal, which in turn allowed water to penetrate the instrument and damage the electronics.

The Solution

Based on our experience and industry insights, GFS was contracted to design & fabricate a custom-molded gasket with an engineered profile to properly mate with the hardware and perform to customer expectations/ requirements. (see Figure 1. red seal)

Results / Next Steps

The Gallagher-engineered gasket solution was a success; it eliminated water intrusion and damage to the electronics, reduced warranty claims, and provided a more reliable product.

With the success of this project, GFS is partnering with our client for additional custom solutions. Next, we plan to help design and fabricate a window seal on the micro corrector to further decrease the possibility of water intrusion.

New Video: Radial Seal Misalignment Issues

Once again, Gallagher Fluid Seals is pleased to bring its readers another video. This time out, we’re dealing with radial seal misalignment issues.

In this clip, Gallagher Engineering Manager Craig Beil discusses shaft run out and shaft eccentricity, two common radial seal misalignment issues.

Be sure to watch our previous videos on GORE expanded PTFE seals, static seal gaskets and spring energized seals to learn more about our products.

And don’t hesitate to contact Gallagher with any questions, whether they’re about radial seal misalignment or any other product or service. We’ll be happy to help.

New Video: Spring Energized Seals

Gallagher Fluid Seals is happy to introduce its latest video, which deals with spring-energized seals.

In the clip above, Gallagher Engineering Manager Craig Beil discusses these seals and the tools and materials used to manufacture them. Gallagher can meet your requirements for PTFE sealing in most, if not all, environments and operating conditions.

Be sure to watch our previous videos on GORE expanded PTFE seals and static seal gaskets to learn more about our products.

And don’t hesitate to contact Gallagher with any questions, whether they’re about spring energized seals or any other product or service. We’ll be happy to hear from you.

New Video: Environmentally Designed Static Seal Gaskets

Gallagher Fluid Seals is proud to present its latest video, on the subject of environmentally designed static seal gaskets.

In the clip below, Brian Gallagher, our key accounts manager, discusses the value of using these gaskets and explains how Gallagher can help customers understand the benefits of using them.

This is the third in a four-part series discussing how we work with our customers to create a sealing solution for their most critical applications.  So far, we’ve talked about Application Discovery & Review and Commercial Evaluation & Development.  The third step in this process is Prototyping & Testing.

Depending on the nature of the part, the first run of prototype parts will be developed for evaluation and testing purposes using a single or low cavity tool.  With advances in on-demand manufacturing technology, some seal manufacturers now offer rapid prototyping or “express” services, where prototypes can be machined or 3D printed to exacting specifications.  This lowers mold and tooling cost while usually providing a faster turnaround time.
