CFO to CEO: “What happens if we invest in developing our people and then they leave?”

CEO to CFO: “What happens if we don’t, and they stay?”

-Peter Baeklund

I’m sure everyone has heard the above statement is some fashion over the past few years.

Very few employees these days work for pay alone, and providing training and opportunity for advancement is paramount to your ability to recruit and/or retain the best employees.

In the past few years, Gallagher Fluid Seals has greatly expanded the ‘Lunch and Learn’ events that we hold for our customers and prospects. These events are typically aimed at organizations that have engineering departments or maintenance staffs whose jobs require them to interact with seals on a consistent basis.

When we get together with a customer or potential customer, Gallagher will work with one of our strategic suppliers and tailor a working session to highlight sealing technology that is focused on the needs of the host company.

We want these sessions to be educational for the people in attendance.  That’s why Gallagher has contacted a number of engineering certification programs and received permission to offer continuing education credits as part of these lunch and learns.

This has proven to be an added enticement for host company employees to attend a dynamic and highly technical seminar that benefits not only their organization, but themselves.

Gallagher asks the host company to have at least ten attendees for any session that would be scheduled.

The session can be focused on topics that are relevant to the customer at hand, or we can spend time looking at an overview of sealing technology if that’s something your team needs help understanding.
