Nitrile / Buna-N (NBR)
Whether you know it as Nitrile, Buna-N, or Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR), this material is the sealing industry's most widely used and economical elastomer. Comprised of the copolymer butadiene and acrylonitrile in varying proportions, which affect the physical properties of the material - the higher the acrylonitrile content, the better the resistance to oil and fuel, but elasticity and resistance to compression set are adversely affected.
Features & Benefits
- Excellent resistance to petroleum-based oils and fuels - propane, butane, petroleum oil, mineral oil & grease, diesel fuel, fuel oils
- Resistance to dilute acids, alkalis and salt solutions (at low temps)
- Resistance to HFA, HFB, and HFC fluids
- Good balance of mechanical properties:
- Low compression set
- High tensile strength
- High abrasion resistance
