The GFS Series 400 Canned PTFE Rotary Lip Seal features three sealing lips. The two ID lips that seal dynamically on the shaft keep media sealed in one direction, and the third lip faces the opposite direction and is designed to prevent contamination. The metal case on its OD seals statically, with a press-fit into a bore. A gasket is sandwiched between layers of sealing lips and the can to seal off the potential leak path. Since the lip is not spring-energized, the radial lip contact forces are lower than a rotary spring energized U-cup, which allows the seal to function at much higher surface speeds (up to 10,000 SFPM). These seals are suited to applications requiring lower friction, better chemical compatibility, and higher pressure ratings than elastomeric rotary seals. Standard metal case material is 304 Stainless Steel.
