Face Seals

Static Face Seals

Static Face Seals are a category of products where there is no dynamic movement on the part of either the Seal or the hardware surface.  The most common Seal that meets this criteria is an O-ring, however, in addition to O-rings GFS offers a range of Static Sealing Products.

Common Static Seals are Quad Rings, Back-Up Rings, Spring Energized PTFE Seals, and Fastener Seals.  Further information can be found on each of these products below.

Prevent Leakage and Withstand Extreme Pressures

For further information about Static Seals and their respective applications, please contact GFS Engineering here.

GFS offers solid and split PTFE Back Up Rings. Standard materials are Virgin PTFE, other materials are available upon request.

Quad Rings, also called Lobed or X-Rings, are similar to O-rings, however rather than a donut or torous shaped profile, Quad Rings have a lobed profile to prevent spiraling within the O-ring groove. Standard materials are Buna (NBR) and Viton (FKM).

This class of Spring Energized PTFE seals can retrofit O-ring grooves.  Typically utilized for higher pressures and extreme chemical resistance.

Fastener seals are composite sealing washers, consisting of a metallic carrier and a vulcanized elastomer sealing lip. They provide a static sealing function on flanges or threaded connections, and consistently assure ideal compression conditions between the housing components to prevent the destruction of the sealing lip.
