Case Study: Spring Energized Virgin PTFE Seal

PROBLEM
The customer developed a magnetic clutch and was having design problems with high friction and break-away force.

SOLUTION

GFS identified a solution using a PTFE spring energized seal instead of an O-Ring energized seal, thus reducing friction and break-away force.

RESULTS
The customer upgraded their product line, eliminated failures, and increased output. The spring energized seal was able to improve the customer’s product longevity and performance by reducing dynamic friction.
