Parker’s E3609 is a 70-Durometer Black EPDM O-ring material. E3609 meets the following specifications: FDA, USP Class VI, USP 87, ISO 10993-5, NSF 51, and NSF 61. E3609 offers excellent resistance to steam, gamma ozone and ethylene oxide sterilization. This material is compatible with all water-soluble chemistries. EPDM compounds are frequently used with foods, water and steam applications and offer the best resistance to ozone and weathering. EPDM’s are not used with petroleum oils or fuels because significant swelling would result. EPR copolymer ethylene propylene and ethylene-propylene-diene rubber (EPDM) terpolymer are particularly useful when sealing phosphate-ester hydraulic fluids and in brake systems that use fluids having a glycol base.
