The GFS Spring Energized Face Seal is designed for applications with high pressures and temperatures, cryogenic fluids, extreme media and other service conditions which exceed the performance characteristics of O-rings and conventional elastomeric seals. Face Seals are designed for either internal or external pressure, but not both. For this internal pressure design the open sealing cavity faces inwards. Typically, the gland design for face seals is the same as an O-ring. When designing a seal gland typical extrusion gaps are 0, but can be as high as 0.003” without impacting the performance of the seal. This seal comes installed standard with a V-Spring. Other spring configurations can be specified by completing the ‘Can’t find your size or material’ form below. Higher pressure levels can be attained with the utilization of a PTFE back-up ring.
