The GFS Symmetrical U-Cup O-ring Energized is a single-acting, O-ring energized, polyurethane seal that can be used as either a primary Rod or Piston seal. At zero or low pressure the O-ring aids to increase the sealing force to prevent any leakage. The seal utilizes a scraper lip, which aids in wiping both fluid film and contamination away from the seal. This seal can be installed back to back, in separate grooves, for use in double acting applications; when doing so it is recommended that the O-rings be removed to prevent a pressure trap. The U-Cup is designed to have an interference fit within the seal housing and can be used in conjunction with a back-up ring for heavy duty applications. The standard material offering is a 95A durometer polyurethane; additional materials can be supplied upon request.
