PROBLEM
Customer encountered waste issues on a platform cylinder rod; accumulated alloy debris and dust were swept away and scrapped. Customer required a seal that would stop material from being lost.

SOLUTION

GFS engineers worked with the customer to design an O-Ring energized seal package in UHMWPE using GFS’ rapid prototype CNC.

RESULTS
The new channel cap seal made of UHMWPE worked successfully, keeping a critical area of the printer clean and allowing for excess material to be reclaimed and re-used. This helped in driving down costs and less maintenance of the machinery.
