Kalrez® Spectrum™ 7075
Kalrez FFKM parts have been the material of choice for mechanical seals, valves, and other chemical and hydrocarbon processing applications for 25 years.
Kalrez Spectrum 7075 expanded on the capabilities of Kalrez 4079 by offering much lower compression set, increased seal force retention, broader chemical resistance and higher temperature stability.
Kalrez Spectrum 7075 joined the family of Kalrez Spectrum™ products designed specifically for the chemical processing industry. As a newer compound, 7075 contains enhanced physical performance properties, including very low compression set and improved seal force retention. To provide even greater sealing performance in dynamic applications where low friction is required, 7075 O-rings have a glossier finish than other Kalrez parts.
This video discusses, at a very high level, the characteristics of Kalrez 7075.

An O-ring seal is a circular cross-section ring molded from rubber, used to prevent the loss of a fluid or gas in a gland. It is the most basic, and at the same time to the most widely used type of seal available since its invention in 1936 by Niels Christensen.

Baffle Seals Help Improve Heat Transfer
Shell-and-tube heat exchangers with removable tube bundles require that manufacturing clearances are present to facilitate the insertion and removal of the tube bundles for maintenance, repair or cleaning purposes.
For heat exchangers designed for multipass flows within the shell — for example, Tubular Exchanger Manufacturers Association standard shell types F, G and H — it is common to incorporate a longitudinal baffle plate within the tube bundle design. These plates direct the shell fluid flow in desired directions to increase the dwell time of the fluid while in contact with the tubes, thereby increasing the heat transfer effectiveness of the exchanger.

Enhancing the surface profile can improve sealing capabilities, extending the functionality of aging piping systems in chemical plants.
There are many aged and aging process plants in operation today. In fact, many of the processing plants for power, chemicals, oil, etc., have been in service for more than 50 years. And while the piping itself may remain intact, their bolted flange gasket joints and connections are becoming misaligned, corroded and damaged due to repeated handling, chemical exposure and thermal cycling. This can lead to costly ruptures that may result in millions of dollars in damages, downtime, noncompliance penalties, irreparable environmental impact and litigation.
There is a solution that can extend the life of aging piping systems, preserving their functionality: raising the surface profile on polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) gaskets. This design modification can prevent leaks, spills and other releases in chemical processing plants by reducing and managing

Transfer Retention Downtime can be Costly
Often times people think that a seal is just a seal or that the materials don't matter, but this is far from the truth. No two sealing materials are exactly the same and have their own unique characteristics that make one material perfect for a specific application while another could completely fail. Materials are truly the foundation of every seal and can't be overlooked when you are considering what kind of seal to use. When you are working in the food and beverage industry and are exposed to challenging conditions and extremely strict purity standards the materials become even more significant. When you are working with a specialized application like a bottling line you want your seal manufacturer to be a true expert, this is where Freudenberg Sealing Technologies' long history of developing highly specialized materials sets them apart.

Gallagher Fluid Seals is a Parker Seal Technology CenterIncorrect O-ring installation can lead to assembly damage causing leakage during the first pressure test. If the system does not pressurize properly, the entire piece of equipment should be disassembled and seals must be replaced. Depending on when this test occurs, multiple manufacturing steps could be in between the seal installation and the first step where leakage can be identified. If O-ring damage happens with high frequency, you could be wasting time and money

Vesconite Bearings celebrates milestone achievement with 0.5mm (0.019in) walled bearing
Vesconite Bearings, an innovator in bearing technology, is thrilled to announce a significant achievement – the creation of its thinnest-walled product to date.
This groundbreaking accomplishment is attributed to Vesconite Bearings’ unparalleled technical ingenuity and advanced CNC programming capabilities.
The focal point of this achievement was the production of close-to-paper-thin wear-resistant Vesconite Hilube articulation bearing liners, which have recently undergone rigorous testing in GE90-SW-type bearings at the articulation points of S6000 trams operated by an Italian tram operator.

Download the Parker O-Ring Handbook
For more than 65 years, the Parker O-Ring Handbook has been an engineering staple of the sealing industry.
.... and now you can download it for free.
In 2015, Parker Hannifin Corporation launched an interactive digital reference guide to enhance and broaden the customer reach of the existing Parker O-Ring Handbook, the Parker O-Ring eHandbook.
“I’m constantly amazed and honored at how often I run across it in unexpected places,” says Dan Ewing, senior chemical engineer and materials manager at Parker's O-Ring division, “I've come to expect to see a well-used copy sitting on a customer's desk, but I'm pleasantly surprised when I find it cited in academic papers, referenced in reports written by government agencies and discussed in industry association meetings.”
