Vesconite Bushings Help Prevent Contamination from Lubricants
A company producing expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam moulded products encountered constant problems of final product contamination, caused by the lubrication necessary for the sliding operation of the bronze bushings installed in the platens of its equipment.
Vesconite self-lubricating bushings were installed into the platens. These bushings guide the platen along hard chromed columns when clamping occurs.
Owing to the ability of Vesconite to operate unlubricated, contamination of the moulded products through contact with the columns or from dripping lubricants was eliminated; the columns are free of oil and grease, and product uptime was maximized.
What is Vesconite?
Vesconite Standard is a specialized thermoplastic made from internally lubricated polymers.
Proven since the 1960's as an exceptional bearing material in demanding conditions, Vesconite gives low wear even in dirty or unlubricated conditions; up to 10 times the life of bronze.

Vesconite has high dimensional stability and does not swell in water, in contrast to most synthetic materials which swell in water.
