Gallagher Fluid Seals’ customer is a leading paper manufacturer. Their products supply both the U.S. market and international market and include: paper towels, napkins, facial tissue, and bathroom tissue.
Customer Problem
Customer’s combustion air fan with existing split bearings was unable to tolerate the heat being generated from the bearing, which caused a fire hazard.
How Did Gallagher Get Involved?
An existing relationship with the customer prompted a site visit to consult about the incompatible bearing isolator issue. GFS and partner Garlock performed a root cause analysis and discovered two issues: The OEM bearing isolators could not withstand the 300°F heat environment, and the existing isolators utilized incorrect grease types and were subjected to over-greasing.
