Rod Seals are the most important seal within any hydraulic sealing system.  Rod Seals prevent leakage of hydraulic fluid to the outside of the sealing system. Additionally, Rod Seals help contribute, in combination with a Wiper Seal, to preventing contamination of the environment.  GFS Rod Seal profiles are available as single acting (pressure from one side) or double acting (pressure from both sides). Rod Asymmetrical U-Cup

The GFS Rod Asymmetrical U-Cup is a single-acting polyurethane hydraulic cylinder rod seal. The beveled sealing lip faces the rod to perform enhanced low to high pressure sealing and wiping action. The inner sealing lip is shorter and more robust to improve sealing and compression set characteristics compared to conventional symmetrical U-Cups. The U-Cup is designed to have an interference fit within the seal housing, and can be used in conjunction with a back-up ring for heavy duty applications. The standard material offering is a 95A durometer polyurethane; additional materials can be supplied upon request.

Rod U-Cup O-Ring Energized

The GFS Rod U-Cup O-ring Energized is a single-acting, polyurethane twin lipped o-ring energized, hydraulic cylinder rod seal. At zero or low pressure the O-ring aids to increase the sealing force to prevent any leakage. The secondary sealing lip located behind the primary sealing lip offers additional stability within the gland. The beveled sealing lip faces the rod to perform enhanced low to high pressure sealing and wiping action. The inner sealing lip is shorter and more robust to improve sealing and compression set characteristics compared to conventional symmetrical U-Cups. Rod Cap Seal C

Based on the original PTFE cap seal design, the GFS Rod Cap Seal C is a compact O-ring energized PTFE bi-directional rod seal.  The Cap Seal C performs with anti-extrusion, low friction and low wear properties; and is an excellent choice for applications requiring a compact design. The Cap Seal C is recommended for linear reciprocating applications where the stroke length is at least twice that of the groove width.   This sealing assembly is supplied standard with an FKM energizing O-ring, other elastomers can be supplied upon request.

The GFS Rod U-Cup O-ring Energized BUR is a high performing single-acting, polyurethane twin lipped o-ring energized, hydraulic cylinder rod seal designed to include an anti-extrusion ring at its heel. At zero or low pressure the O-ring aids to increase the sealing force to prevent any leakage. The secondary sealing lip located behind the primary sealing lip offers additional stability within the gland. The back-up ring helps the seal withstand side-loading and pressure spikes. The beveled sealing lip faces the rod to perform enhanced low to high pressure sealing and wiping action. Rod Buffer Cap Seal

The GFS Rod Buffer Cap Seal is a single-acting O-Ring energized PTFE rod seal used in dynamic sealing applications. The seal is installed in closed grooves, including grooves to ISO 7425. The seal assembly offers low friction and eliminates the potential for stick-slip, which makes it well suited for high speed applications. The Buffer Cap seal can be used as a standalone rod seal, or in tandem with other rod seals. It is most commonly used as a pressure buffer to protect the primary rod seal from spikes in pressure. The Buffer Cap Seal has high wear resistance, low break out force, and extrusion resistance.  This sealing assembly is supplied standard with an energizing FKM O-ring, other elastomers can be supplied upon request.

Rod Channel Cap Seal

The GFS Rod Channel Cap Seal is an O-ring energized PTFE capped bi-directional rod seal.  The Channel Cap Seal performs with anti-extrusion, low friction and low wear properties. The seal retrofits standard AS-568 size o-ring groove dimensions, and has been designed to improve the performance of a single O-ring.  The symmetrical cross section of the seal allows for strong responsiveness from both directions, and works especially well for small diameters due to its design and easy installation. This sealing assembly is supplied standard with an FKM energizing O-ring, other elastomers can be supplied upon request.
