Customer Problem
Customer experienced an issue on their RV-7 dryer in a chemical application; their food grade compression packing was flaking, causing white specs, fibers, and flakes in the end product, which caused equipment maintenance and unplanned downtime.
Gallagher’s Solution
Through testing and evaluation with a site visit and engineering consult, it was discovered that packing would not be ideal for this specific dryer application. Instead, the solution was to stack Garlock MILL-RIGHT® ES seals on both ends of the RV-7 dryer.
Results
The new HNBR split seal, with high abrasion resistance and low wear, worked as intended. It increased the equipment efficiency and uptime while simultaneously eliminating the flaking.
