Gore Joint Sealant and Gore Gasket Tape Series 500
Created more than 40 years ago, Gore Joint Sealant was the first form-in-place gasket. It was and still is a great sealing solution for steel flanges with large diameters, irregular shapes, or rough/pitted surfaces. It forms a thin yet strong seal when compressed and works in applications where bolt loads are low.

What is a Segmented Gasket and When You Should Use One
Segmented gaskets are manufactured by joining together multiple sections of material. Joining techniques employed include dovetailing, butt-joining, and beveling using the technique of "skiving."
Segmented gaskets are often necessary due to either the limited manufactured size of the sheet or to minimize waste generated with centers.
There are a number of situations where your product or process may require segmented gaskets.

Sealing Sense for Gaskets
Safety is a concern at any industrial site. An Occupational Safety and Health Administration compliance specialist has stated that safety should be more than a priority: “Priorities in an organization can and usually do change. Safety and health need to be a core value of the organization.”1
Safety can be a case of values versus priorities. When it comes to sealing devices, perceived dangers sometimes are overlooked.

The importance of gaskets to the overall health of your machinery and production is often overlooked. While gaskets represent just a fraction of the cost of the machines or systems in which they are installed, the consequences of a failure can range from nuisance leaks to catastrophic failure of a machine or process.
“Damage, downtime, lost production, along with non-compliance penalties, plus the potential for litigation and

Rare and Ultra-Pure Resources Present Unique Challenge to Finding Appropriate Low Temp Gasket
Modern technology often requires rare or ultra-pure materials that can only be handled or obtained within extreme environmental conditions. These same conditions present unique and hazardous difficulties when transporting or utilizing these resources. Resources such as liquid oxygen, nitrogen, or argon; all of which are classified as “industrial gases” are handled well below the normal temperature

When PTFE (polytetrafluorethylene) was developed in 1938, its importance to industrial sealing was quickly recognized because of its tremendous chemical resistance.
While use of PTFE as a gasket material increased in industrial applications, complaints about certain properties surfaced: skive marks made initial sealing difficult, cold flow caused leakage and premature failure, and temperature/pressure cycling was a problem.
