Gallagher Fluid Seals is happy to announce our designation of “Parker Seal Technology Center” (STC) effective July 1, 2022.
The STC is reserved for Parker’s premier level distributor network, for those distributors who drive value-added services to the mutual customer base.
As resident experts in all-things-sealing, STC distributors have engineering disciplines and work directly with customers to provide an agnostic view of their optimal sealing configuration.
The STC designation from Parker can give customers the confidence that sealing solutions from Gallagher Fluid Seals will be completed on time and tooled correctly.
Do you have an o-ring that you need to replace and you don’t know what size it is?
The official Parker O-ring measuring cone is the top solution for sizing o-rings when you are unsure of what size to order. Slide the o-ring down the cone to see what size is needed. Makes for easy measuring as the numbers are printed directly on the cone. The cone also has slits near the base. Insert the o-ring to determine the cross section.
A common question that comes from many customers is: “Can you tell me which O-ring compound meets this ASTM D2000 callout?” It’s understandable, since at first glance, the ASTM D2000 callout can be intimidating for determining the type of O-ring material. However, the ASTM D2000 is a very useful tool to quickly specify requirements for O-ring materials, and is standardized so it is easy to interpret industry wide. So, what is the ASTM D2000 specification, and how can I interpret it?
ASTM D2000 is a standardized description of rubber compounds. It was first developed for use in the automotive industry, however it is now used by many industries to specify requirements for rubber compounds in a consistent way. Think of the specification as a common language everyone in the rubber industry speaks, allowing us to communicate easily with each other without an interpreter. An ASTM D2000 callout
Gallagher Fluid Seals is a Parker Distributor is proud to be proud to be one of the few premier distributors to qualify as a “Parker Seal Technology Center (STC)”.
Parker’s precision extruded and spliced seals offer an ideal, cost effective sealing solution for many applications.
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elLubrication of O-rings is extremely important. The greatest benefit of using a lubricant is typically obtained during installation. Using a lubricant is going to decrease the surface friction of the O-ring helping to prevent abrasion, pinching or cutting of the O-ring during installation. Lubricating an O-ring can also help to seat the O-ring properly into the application, as well as aid and speed up automated assembly processes.

As shared in part one of this two-part series, the significant growth and development of battery pack technologies have led to manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (EVs) placing an increased emphasis on pack design optimization. These manufacturers are looking at both immediate and long-term solutions, including bonding individual cells directly to the cooling plate and even bonding directly to the vehicle chassis. For these solutions to be viable, new thermally conductive (TC) adhesive technology is needed.
In part one, we highlighted the new developments in TC urethane adhesives as explained in a white paper. In addition, current battery pack configurations were reviewed, the next generation Cell-to-Pack (CTP) configuration, and the formulation, developing, and testing processes. This final part in the series will provide the test results, insights, and
Low temperature stiffness isn’t something unique to aging. It’s a problem that has plagued seal designers for years, particularly with respect to aircraft fuel systems. Modern aircraft employ a complicated fuel system with multiple connections along the path from input through exhaust. Safety demands complete integrity of those connections at all times across the complete operating environment of the aircraft. Particularly challenging is maintaining an effective seal at extreme low temperatures. For aircraft, the lower limit has been set at -65F.
There are two fundamental characteristics that enable elastomers to function as superb seal materials:
With the significant growth and development of battery pack technologies, manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (EVs) are placing an increased emphasis on optimizing pack design. Manufacturers seek lighter weight, yet more compact solutions to gain additional energy density. At the same time, they are also striving for simplicity and affordability. To achieve these goals, manufacturers are looking at both immediate and long-term solutions. These solutions include bonding individual cells directly to the cooling plate and bonding directly to the vehicle chassis. For these solutions to be viable, new thermally conductive (TC) adhesive technology is necessary. As a leading supplier of thermal management encapsulants, adhesives, and gap fillers, we are developing TC urethane adhesives that will enable the direct bonding of battery cells with
Lubrication is an important, sometimes overlooked, component of sealing. Many applications require lubrication for installation to prevent seal damage and prevent injury during manual assembly. Internal lubricants reduce installation force and dynamic friction without the need for an external lubricant or coating. Internal lubrication also decreases break-out friction for dynamic applications. Operating seals with no lubrication can lead to heat buildup and accelerated wear that can result in leakage and shorten the seal’s life. Internally lubricated seal materials provide a clean alternative to grease or oil in an assembly operation.
This blog will discuss how they work and the benefits of internally lubricated o-rings.
components their machines need in order to operate and produce their desired end product. The ways that tooling impacts a manufacturing operation are imperative. Not only is the tooling of your own manufacturing important, but also of the tools themselves that will be a part of your own operation. It’s necessary to have components that have been tooled to specifications, have high quality, and will perform under stress.
The end result of your operation’s tooling is going to affect every aspect of the business and its success. If an operation has been improperly tooled, then it will inevitably have a less efficient running cost, slowing things down. When an improperly tooled machine fails, it can have disastrous consequences, not limited to time lost, loss of product, and potential hazard to employees or customers.
